Frequently Asked Questions

What is XEOMIN®

XEOMIN® is a purified* botulinum toxin that targets the upper facial muscles. It is designed to relax these muscles and temporarily improve the appearance of frown lines, crow’s feet lines and horizontal forehead lines.

*XEOMIN® is free from complexing proteins

How does XEOMIN® work?

Daily activities like laughing, frowning and smiling activate the facial muscles causing dynamic lines to appear. Over time, as your skin ages and loses some of its elasticity, these repeated contractions cause persistent frown lines that are visible without muscle activity.

Botulinum toxin type A – the active ingredient in XEOMIN® – acts on nerve endings in facial muscles and prevents them from contracting. The reduction in muscle activity temporarily improves the appearance of frown lines, crow’s feet lines and horizontal frown lines.

How do I know if XEOMIN® is right for me?

If you are an adult with upper facial lines (frown lines, crow’s feet lines or horizontal forehead lines), XEOMIN® may be right for you. There are some conditions (including other medicines you may take to treat these conditions) that may make you unsuitable for XEOMIN®. Talk to your doctor to discuss the benefits and risks of treatment.

What should I tell my doctor before treatment?

Before receiving treatment with XEOMIN®, you should tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions or allergies, if you are currently taking any medications and/or supplements, any previous aesthetic procedures, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What can I expect during treatment?

During treatment, which usually takes about 20 minutes, your doctor will inject XEOMIN® directly into the target muscle where it reduces muscle activity. Your doctor will provide you with suitable aftercare advice post your treatment. Normal activities can be resumed immediately following treatment, with no need to schedule additional recovery time.

When can I expect to see results?

The effects of XEOMIN® are rapid and will be noticeable within 2 to 3 days following treatment, with maximum effect visible after approximately a month. Individual results vary but in general may last about 4 months.
